Report: NRL Round 8 vs Sharks

In an incredible match at Leichhardt Oval, Wests Tigers have emerged with a 20-18 golden point win over the Sharks.

An Adam Doueihi penalty goal secured victory at the Eighth Wonder in what was the club’s fourth win of the season.

Lachlan Galvin manufactured the first points of the match for Wests Tigers, as the five-eighth sent a rampaging Samuela Fainu through the line for his first try of the season.

Sunia Turuva then extended the home side’s lead in the 27th minute, with Starford To’a’s big left-hand fend setting the winger up for his eighth Wests Tigers try.

Ronaldo Mulitalo went on to score under the posts on the stroke of half-time to make it a 10-6 Wests Tigers lead at the break.

Briton Nikora was sin-binned for a high tackle to start the second period, with Adam Doueihi’s penalty goal making it 12-6.

Tallyn Da Silva spectacularly kicked the ball forward off a bomb to race away and further the Wests Tigers lead, before Will Kennedy’s four-pointer brought the visitors back into the match.

After Fonua Pole was sent to the bin, Billy Burns scored for the Sharks to level proceedings at 18-18.

From there, a field goal-a-thon ensued, as both teams seemed destined to grab the match-winning one-pointer.

Nicho Hynes hit the post from 47 m out, before he had a shot charged down.

Some outstanding Wests Tigers defence sent the match to golden point, with Hynes’ first extra-time attempt being charged down.

With both teams missing field goal attempts in extra time, the match ultimately culminated with a penalty goal.

Tom Hazelton’s strip allowed Adam Doueihi to convert the match-winning two-pointer and score Wests Tigers’ fourth victory of the season.

Wests Tigers 20 (Sa. Fainu, Turuva, Da Silva tries; Doueihi 4/5 goals) defeated Sharks 18 (Mulitalo, Kennedy, Burns tries; Hynes 3/3 goals) at Leichhardt Oval.
