Match Report: NSW Cup Round 8 vs Jets

In a tough and gritty contest in which scores were locked up at 6-6 at half-time, the Bluebags ultimately emerged victorious in this Lidcombe Oval clash.

Izaac Tu’itupou scored out of dummy half to open the scoring, before a Braden Hamlin-Uele break set up Jets centre Michael Gabrael down the left touchline.

With scores level at 6-6 at the break, Newtown winger Eli Clark crossed early in the second period to give the visitors the lead.

Trailing 12-6, the Magpies went close to scoring on a number of occasions, however just couldn’t come up with the match-levelling try.

Ultimately, Hamlin-Uele proved too strong close to the line in the 76th minute, as the big front-rower crashed over under the posts for the match-sealing four-pointer.

Jets 18 (Gabrael, Clark, Hamlin-Uele tries; N. Puru 3/3 goals) defeated Magpies 6 (Tu'itupou try; Falls 1/2 goals) at Lidcombe Oval.
