Report: NSW Cup Round 7 vs Eels

Wests Magpies have fallen to a 22-10 defeat to the Eels in Round 7 of the NSW Cup.

The home side trailed 22-6 at half-time in the Lidcombe Oval clash and were unable to overcome the blue and golds in the second period.

After Araz Nanva opened the scoring for the Eels in the 2nd minute, an Elie El-Zakhem offload to Solomona Faataape produced first points for Wests.

The Lebanese international delivered the ball in traffic to the Magpies centre, who scored his fifth try in as many games this season at NSW Cup level.

Two four-pointers in quick succession via Toni Mataele and Bryce Cartwright gave the Eels a handy lead, before Ronald Volkman kicked it ahead for Alfred Smalley to score in the corner.

Smalley's try gave Parramatta a 22-6 half-time lead, before a clunky second stanza saw both sides struggle for points.

The drought was only broken in the 72nd minute when Izaac Tu’itupou dove over in the corner off the back of a Lachlan Galvin cutout ball.

Tu'itupou's try was to be the final scoring of the afternoon, as the Eels emerged victorious 22-10 at Lidcombe Oval.

Eels 22 (Nanva, Mataele, Cartwright, Smalley tries; Papalii 3/4 goals) defeated Magpies 10 (Faataape, Tu'itupou tries; Falls 1/2 goals) at Lidcombe Oval.
