Report: NSW Cup Round 4 vs Warriors

Wests Magpies have fallen to a 34-20 defeat to the Warriors in Round 4 of the Knock On Effect NSW Cup.

After trailing 22-8 at halftime, Wests couldn’t claw back into the match in the second period.

While the Warriors scored in the second minute to open proceedings, Max Liles went on to grubber for himself and regather to score a quality Magpies try.

Wests hit the lead not long after when Izaac Tu’itupou leaped high to secure the ball and grab his first four-pointer since joining the club.

The ebbing and flowing of the match continued, though, as Kayliss Fatialofa pounced on a spilt Heath Mason bomb to collect the Warriors’ second of the match.

Jacob Laban collected a bomb to score shortly after, before Daeon Amituanai produced an acrobatic leap in the corner before half-time to make it 22-8 at the break.

Charlie Murray’s 44th-minute try brought the Magpies back within eight points; however, a double to Warriors prop Tanner Stowers-Smith established their ascendancy on the contest.

The Warriors ultimately emerged 34-20 winners at Campbelltown on Sunday afternoon.

Warriors 34 (Stowers-Smith 2, Kali, Fatialofa, Laban, Amituanai tries; Boyd 5/6 goals) defeated Magpies 20 (Liles, Tu'itupou, Murray, Aho tries; Lobb 2/4 goals) at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
