Pathways Preview: Week 5

A big weekend of Pathways football awaits Wests Tigers’ junior representative teams as they move towards the midway point of the regular season.

A blockbuster match against the Steelers awaits the Magpies’ SG Ball Cup team in Round 5.

The Steelers sit in sixth place with a 3-1 record so far in the 2025 season, while Wests will be full of confidence after scoring a dominant 50-4 win over St. George last weekend.

Centre Heamasi Makasini has scored three tries in his last two SG Ball Cup matches.

UNE SG Ball Cup (Under 19s) - Balmain Tigers

Balmain, which started the season with a 4-0 record, will be looking to extend its unbeaten run in the SG Ball Cup.

A blockbuster top-four showdown against the Rabbitohs awaits the Tigers on Saturday afternoon at Redfern.

Xavier Tauaifaiga will look to continue his impressive recent run of form after collecting a double in his last outing against Penrith.

Westpac Tarsha Gale Cup (Under 19s) - Wests Tigers

The Wests Tigers Tarsha Gale team will aim to rebound after losing in Round 4, their first defeat of 2025.

They take on a St. George side who sit 10th on the competition ladder with a 1-3 record.

The powerful middle forward trio of Ella Walker, Tiresa Leasuasu and Angel Schaafhausen-Mino will be a significant factor if Wests Tigers are to put in a strong performance on Saturday.

SLE Laurie Daley Cup (Under 18s) - Macarthur Wests Tigers 

After Round 3 represented their first defeat of the 2025 season, Macarthur Wests Tigers face the Western Rams on Sunday morning.

The absence of Tom Galvin means Stirling Faumui will shift from halfback to lock.

Anapapa Faapoi joins the interchange bench.

Wests Magpies will take on a strong Illawarra Steelers team in Round 5 of the Harold Matthews Cup.

The Steelers sit in equal 1st position on the competition table with a 3-0 record boosted by their Round 2 bye.

UNE Harold Matthews Cup (Under 17s) - Balmain Tigers

Balmain has secured two narrow victories in consecutive weeks in the Harold Matthews Cup and will be looking to make it three on the trot against the Central Coast Roosters.

Central Coast have also won two matches to date in 2025.

Co-captain Isaac Perkins returns to the Tigers side at second row in a boost for Balmain.

Westpac Lisa Fiaola Cup (Under 17s) - Wests Tigers 

The St. George Dragons await Wests Tigers’ Lisa Fiaola Cup team on Saturday morning.

The visiting Wests Tigers have a 2-2 record for the season to date and will be hopeful of getting back to winning ways after last week’s tight away loss to the Knights at Cessnock.

The Dragons have a 1-3 record and sit bottom of the competition ladder after four rounds.

SLE Andrew Johns Cup (Under 16s) -  Macarthur Wests Tigers

Macarthur Wests Tigers make the road trip to Parkes this weekend as they take on the Western Rams on Sunday morning.

The visiting Wests Tigers fell to their first defeat of the season last weekend against Illawarra South Coast, who lead the Andrew Johns Cup after three rounds.

Livewire five-eighth Terowie Golding-Lyons has been a standout for Macarthur in their opening three matches of the season.
