Wests Tigers selected for New Zealand U17s

Congratulations to Wests Magpies Harold Matthews players Christian Taupau-Moors and Pheonix Godinet on their selection in the Australian-based New Zealand Under 17s squad.

The two Magpies forwards were included in a 42-strong squad comprising New Zealand players who are living in Australia, with a one-off match played on the Gold Coast.

Both players had very strong seasons in 2024 helping the Magpies to this year's Harold Matthews grand final, each scoring a try in the 34-16 loss to the New Zealand Warriors.

The match on the Gold Coast formed part of a three-day cultural camp, aimed at connecting more Australian-based talent to their New Zealand heritage and the black jersey.

Wests Tigers Pathways Manager – Balmain, Bronson Harrison, was among a handful of former Kiwis players on the coaching staff.
