Match Report: NSW Women’s Premiership Round 9 vs Knights

Wests Tigers have fallen to a 20-4 NSW Women’s Premiership defeat to the Knights on Saturday afternoon at the Newcastle Centre of Excellence.

After scoring two wins in seven days last week, the visitors couldn't secure a third successive victory.

Darcy Eade opened the contest’s scoring after 22 minutes, as the teenage winger continues her impressive try-scoring streak since joining Wests Tigers from Illawarra.

Eade’s try put the only points of the first half on the board, with Wests Tigers leading 4-0.

The second half though, was a blue and red wave, with Elizabeth Montgomery’s try and Jessica Gentle’s conversion putting Newcastle ahead 6-4 after 40 minutes.

NSW Under 19’s representative second-rower Evah McEwen was next to cross for the Knights before Tamika Bull grabbed a third for the home team.

Rugby union convert Grace Kukutai scored the final try of the afternoon, with the full-time score in Newcastle reading 20-4 in favour of the Knights.
