Match Report: NSW Women’s Premiership Round 8 vs Sea Eagles

Wests Tigers have scored their second win of the week in the NSW Women’s Premiership, after defeating the Sea Eagles 44-20 at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday afternoon.

Taking a commanding 20-4 lead into half-time, the home side never let Manly back into the game to secure their biggest win of the season to date.

Tess Staines burst through the Manly defence early, to score a slashing, long-range individual try after just eight minutes.

Staines continued her strong game, setting up Darcy Eade for a four-pointer, before the pair combined again for Staines’ second of the afternoon.

Manly posted their first points of the contest through a back-line shift into the right corner, with Georgia Sim finishing the move off.

Claudia Nielsen dived over in the corner just before the break to give Wests Tigers a 20-4 half-time lead.

The two teams traded tries to open the second half, before Eade, an impressive teenage winger from Illawarra, scored her third of the afternoon.

Eade went on to score a fourth in the left corner, but Manly did manage to collect their third try when a neat cross-field kick went straight to Sim.

In the 63rd minute, Manly grabbed a try out of dummy half through Paris Ingegneri, however Evie McGrath set Jess Kennedy up with a beautiful pass for the lock forward to score the final four-pointer of the afternoon.

Ellie Barnett’s conversion made it a 44-20 Wests Tigers win at full-time of this NSW Women’s Premiership clash.
