Match Report: NSW Cup Round 24 vs Rabbitohs

Western Suburbs Magpies have fallen to a 28-14 NSW Cup loss to the Rabbitohs at Campbelltown on Saturday evening.

South Sydney led 18-6 at the break and maintained a foothold on proceedings for the remainder of the contest to come away with the two competition points.

The Bunnies scored first through Bayleigh Bentley-Hape and they extended their lead after 18 minutes as Tyrone Munro showed electric pace to plant the ball down from a grubber kick.

Josh Feledy then finished off a Brent Naden line-break for the Magpies’ first, before Izaac Thompson crossed to extend the Rabbitohs lead.

Dean Hawkins dummied through the line to score the first try after half-time, with Munro then proving too quick once again, burning the Magpies down the right touchline for his second of the evening.

The Magpies grabbed a second four-pointer after 63 minutes when Latu Fainu sent a looping cutout ball out to winger Solomon Alaimalo, who grabbed his seventh try at NSW Cup level.

A line-break from Feledy then led to Tim Johannssen powering his way over in the ensuing set, with the unsuccessful conversion meaning the full-time score read 28-14 in favour of the visiting Bunnies.
