Match Report: Jersey Flegg Cup Round 22 vs Roosters

Wests Tigers have ensured they remain in the hunt for a Jersey Flegg Cup finals berth after scoring an 18-10 win over the Roosters at Lidcombe Oval.

The win is the club’s 11th of the season and came after they trailed 10-6 at halftime in this Saturday afternoon clash.

The contest was evenly matched until the 18th minute when Roosters centre Xavier Chatfield-Mooka scored after a sustained period attacking Wests Tigers’ line.

The visitors went back to back shortly after when Noah Goodman scored an acrobatic effort in the right corner.

Wests Tigers ensured they wouldn’t go into the half-time break empty handed, with Zak Clarke barging over for a try after good work through the middle of the field by Brandon Tumeth.

Wests Tigers grabbed the first points of the second stanza through front-rower Chris Faagutu who drove hard through contact to power his way to the line.

Clarke’s conversion made it 12-10 in favour of the home team, before the match erupted into a mass melee.

With six minutes remaining though, Wests Tigers capitalised on the 11 v 11 situation, as Valu Hammond scored to extend the lead.

Clarke’s third goal of the afternoon meant the full-time score read 18-10 at full-time, with Wests Tigers overcoming the Roosters at Lidcombe.
