Match Report: NSW Women’s Premiership Round 4 vs Mounties

Wests Tigers’ NSW Women’s Premiership side has scored their first point of the 2024 season in a hard-fought 16-16 draw against Mounties at Campbelltown.

Leading by two at half-time, the home side went on to concede two second-half tries but still came away with a point for their efforts in Round 4.

Chelsea Savill kicked things off for Wests Tigers, with the Under 19’s NSW Origin representative scoring in the opening minute, before Mounties hit back through Elise Smith.

The visitors then took a narrow lead as Sonia Mose scored in the left corner, however a period of sustained pressure for Wests Tigers led to them securing a half-time lead.

Savill was held up over the line attempting to score a second try, but Wests Tigers’ efforts were eventually rewarded when Evie McGrath sent Rebecca Pollard over from a short-side scrum play.

In the second period, halfback Darcy Eade’s 39th minute try and Savill’s conversion extended Wests Tigers’ lead out to 16-8.

Subsequent Mounties four-pointers to Brooke Wilkins and Georgia Willey were both followed by unsuccessful conversions.

Willey’s try was the final score of the contest, with the match finishing level at 16-16.
