This week’s guests on Behind The Roar are three young players who recently made their NRL debuts with Wests Tigers, and who were teammates in Wests Magpies premiership-winning Harold Matthews team in 2022.
BTR is available on Apple, Spotify and YouTube
Last week we chatted to the other three young men who were also in that Harold Matts team, Tallyn Da Silva, Kit Laulilii, and Lachie Galvin.
To round out the set of six players from that team who have already gone on to play NRL we chat to Wests Tigers Player # 288 Heath Mason, WT Player #289 Jordan Miller, and WT Player # 290 Luke Laulilii.
All three are Macarthur juniors who have played with and against each other for many years.
We cover plenty of ground talking not just about footy, but about family, friends, mentors and more.
We discuss each player’s journey to first grade and we learn about the people who have helped them get to where they are today, including some of their more experienced NRL teammates who have been more than happy to show them the ropes.
We get to know a bit more about these young fellas who have only recently jumped into the deep end and handled it with flying colours.
Luke chats about the Sunday morning phone call from Benji that confirmed he’d be making his NRL debut later that afternoon.
Jordan talks about the nerves he felt walking through the gates at Leichhardt Oval with so many TV cameras about.
And Heath tells us how his love for footy started when he was a young ball boy who was 'paid’ in red frogs and soft drink.
All that and more in this week's episode of Behind The Roar.
