Match Preview: NRL Round 16 vs Raiders

Wests Tigers tackle the Canberra Raiders for the second time this season as the club celebrates Junior League Appreciation Round at Campbelltown.

It will again be a team brimming with youth and several local juniors as Benji’s babes look to claim back-to-back wins for the second time this season.

The Tigers snapped a nine-game losing streak when they toppled the Titans 18-10 at Leichhardt and will be aiming to end a 10-game streak of losses at Campbelltown when they face Ricky Stuart’s Raiders on Sunday.

Canberra is coming off a 34-16 loss at home to the Cowboys last round when they found themselves trailing 28-0 with 25 minutes remaining.

The Raiders most recent visit to Campbelltown was last season when they jumped out to an 18-0 lead before Wests Tigers scored three tries in the final 12 minutes to level the score.

A Luke Brooks drop goal with five to play looked to have sealed an off the canvas victory for the home side only for a late penalty in front of the sticks handing the Raiders a one-point win.

In team news Lachlan Galvin and Kit Laulilii come into the 17, pushing fellow Campbelltown teens Heath Mason and Jordan Miller to the reserves.

Galvin slots straight back into five-eighth alongside Aidan Sezer with Api Koroisau shifting back to hooker.

It will be Galvin’s second match against the Raiders this season after making his NRL debut in the nation’s capital in Round 2, while Laulilii, a middle forward, will line up for just his second NRL appearance.
