Match Report: Jersey Flegg Cup Round 15 vs Warriors

Wests Tigers have cemented their place in the Jersey Flegg Cup’s top four with a 30-16 win in Round 15 at Leichhardt Oval.

After a hard-fought opening to the contest in the wet weather, skipper Kobie Wilson darted out of dummy half after 19 minutes to open the scoring for the home side.

Powerful front-rower Vaka Aho crashed through the defensive line to extend the Wests Tigers lead, before the Warriors scored their first of the day before the break.

The visitors then levelled proceedings shortly after the resumption of play, but Kobie Wilson’s neat cut-out ball sent Junior Wright over in the left corner to reestablish a lead that Wests Tigers wouldn’t let go of for the remainder of the contest.

Kobie Wilson, who was the best on ground, set Te Umuariki Heremia-Tukere up with an expertly placed grubber kick, before Iverson Matai sent the classy centre over for his second.

A late consolation try for the Warriors was the final score of the contest, with Wests Tigers emerging victorious 30-16.
