Another sold-out home game for Wests Tigers

Hundreds of Tamworth locals and others from the New England region made the trip to Scully Park on Friday night to meet Wests Tigers players on the eve of their Round 10 match against Newcastle Knights.

There were smiles all-round as the players casually mingled, signed autographs, and took selfies following their early evening captain’s run.

Most of these rugby league lovers will be back at a ‘sold out’ Scully Park on Saturday, including a group of 20 young people from the region who were taken to the signing session by rugby league legend, Greg Inglis.

The Greg Inglis Goanna Academy continues to do some amazing work around the country and this trip was specifically aimed at helping at risk youth in the Tamworth area around various aspects of mental health and wellbeing.

The Wests Tigers experience and the Goanna Academy visit was in conjunction with Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service, Tamworth Youthie, and Oxley Police District, and proudly supported by Hertz Car Hire.

This will be Wests Tigers fifth visit to Tamworth following the club’s first game at Scully Park against the Knights in 2018, when Benji Marshall wore the No.6 jersey and now assistant coach Chris Heighington played for the opposition.

And, like all previous visits, Scully Park will again have the ‘house full’ sign up, making this the fourth sold-out home game for Wests Tigers in four home games so far this season.
