Match Report: Jersey Flegg Cup Round 8 vs Storm

Wests Tigers held on to defeat Melbourne Storm 28-24 in Round 8 of the Jersey Flegg Cup at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

The home side bolted out to a 24-4 half time lead before the visitors rattled home with two late tries.

The Tigers got off to a blistering start leading 12-0 after seven minutes with a try to fullback Tino Tavana in the second set of the match, and another four minutes later when prop Herman Tofaeono found the line.

The home side stretched their lead even further with back to back tries to lock Cayne Nicholas and halfback Jonathan Ibrahim, to establish a 20-point lead at the break.

Storm centre Matthew Hill and edge forward Mitchell Jennings then posted back-to-back tries to have the visitors trailing by 10 , before Tigers’ centre Te Umuariki Heremia-Tukere crossed on the hour mark to establish a 14-point buffer.

The Storm scored the final two tries of the match but it was too little too late with the Tigers holding on to reverse their loss in Melbourne in round five and score their third win on the trot.
