Match Report: Harold Matthews Cup Semi-Finals vs Sharks

Wests Magpies have defeated Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 8-6 at Leichhardt Oval to book a place in the Harold Matthews Cup Grand Final.

In a low scoring but gripping semi-final the Magpies prevailed after being held scoreless in the second half to march through to the Under 17s decider.

Wests one and only try came after just three minutes when winger Tyson Walker found the line.

Centre Heamasi Makasini missed the conversion but added two first half penalty goals to give his side an 8-nil lead at the break.

The Sharks posted their first points of the match in the 50th minute when edge forward Kaden Garner found the line, converted by Callum Grantham, to make it 8-6.

There were desperate efforts from both teams in the final stretch with the Magpies holding on to claim a two-victory.
