Match Report: Lisa Fiaola Cup Finals Week 1 vs CC Roosters

Wests Tigers have defeated Central Coast Roosters 24-22 at Leichhardt Oval in week one of the finals in the Lisa Fiaola Cup.

In a tightly contested match the Tigers led 18-16 at half time and held on to win by two points to march through to the semi-finals.

The ‘home’ side jumped out to a 12-nil lead in the opening ten minutes through tries to fullback Rhiannon Bonner and five-eighth, Agnews Faaui.

The Roosters went back-to-back to lock things up at 12-12 before bench forward Alavina Tu’ifua crashed over in front of the Keith Barnes Stand to break the deadlock.

The Roosters hit back in the shadows of half time with a try out wide to entre Mia Vaotuua to put the Central Coast team behind by just two points at the break.

The Tigers were making easier metres through the middle in the second half off the back of strong carries from forwards Aliana Fasavalu-Fa'amausili and Lucyannah Laumanu-Leiataua.

It was 20 minutes into the second period before the scoreboard ticked over when Faaui sliced through from close range to put the Tigers ahead 24-16

Roosters hooker Mahlie Cashin scored in the final minute of the match but it was too little too late with Wests Tigers booking a place in the Lisa Fiaola Cup semi-finals.
