The 24-year-old centre, playing his first game for Wests Tigers, was knocked out midway through the first half of the Pre-season Challenge match, following a high tackle from Warriors forward Zyon Maiu’u.

Casey was immediately taken to hospital for scans, which have cleared him of serious injury.

After watching the second half of the match from hospital Declan has returned to the team hotel and is due to fly home with his teammates on Monday morning.

He will continue to be monitored by club medical staff over the coming days.

Solomona Faataape, also playing his first game for the club, required a few stitches above the left eye following a head knock, while fellow centre Josh Feledy picked up a minor shoulder injury.
