Pathways Preview: Round 1

Seven of Wests Tigers eight junior pathways teams are in action this weekend, in the first round of the NSWRL junior representative season.

Every week throughout the season we will publish a brief pathways' preview, detailing all junior representative fixtures for that weekend.

We will also provide a pathways' round-up every Monday with a few action pics and game details. To keep up with live scores each weekend, simply return to this page and keep an eye on the game of your choice.

Several Wests Tigers NRL squad members will be in action in the first round, including the likes of Tallyn Da Silva and Jordan Miller, who will both be playing for Western Suburbs in the SG Ball Cup.

Talented young halfback Marc Tannous is another who has spent time over the summer training with the NRL squad, and he’ll be guiding Balmain’s SG Ball team against the Sharks at Cronulla.

This game will be one of four involving Wests Tigers junior rep teams back-to-back at Pointsbet Stadium on Saturday.

Our two Macarthur Wests Tigers teams in the Andrew Johns and Laurie Dale Cup competitions will play back-to-back games at Kirkham Oval on Sunday.

Lisa Fiaola Cup - Wests Tigers U/17s

Coach: Scott Clark

Coach’s Comment:

This weekend against the Sharks is an exciting time and will be the first of many weekends seeing our Lisa Fiaola Team run out after officially joining and competing in the NSWRL Rep Competition.

Our pre-season has been one of learning and development which has created a great culture of togetherness within our squad. The players have all bought into the style of footy they want to play, and it will be exciting to watch this finally come to fruition this Saturday.

Tarsha Gale Cup – Wests Tigers U/19s

Coach – Adel Hage

Coach’s Comment:

It’s so exciting for this playing group to play its first game at a competitive level and we will see several exciting new players playing their first game for our club. It’s also great that we are playing straight after our Lisa Fiaola team in what is their first ever competitive game of rugby league.

Harold Matthews Cup – Balmain Tigers U/17s

Coach – Tony Bazouni

Coach’s Comment:

We’re all really looking forward to our first-round match against the Sharks. It’s always a tough game at Pointsbet Stadium and we expect nothing different this week.

Hopefully we can put everything we have done this pre-season into practice on the field. The boys are so excited to take up the challenge. Bring on game day.

SG Ball Cup – Balmain Tigers U/19s

Coach – Chris Yates

Coach’s Comment:

Here we are ready for Round 1 against the Sharks with two points on the line.  Our captain Kian Edmed has led the boys well through a tough preseason, and I expect him to do the same on Saturday.

SG Ball Cup – Western Suburbs Magpies U/19s

Coach – Joey Saukuru

Coach’s Comment:

Round 1 against any team is always tough but with a good pre-season under our belts the boys are all very keen and ready for this tough encounter. It’s good to have the six players back from NRL preseason as part of the squad.

Andrew Johns Cup – Macarthur Wests Tigers U16s

Coach – Harrison Fox

Coach’s Comment:

We always know playing the Western Rams is a tough game, they will come out to play and won't stop until the final whistle. The last couple of weeks our boys have been exceptional and they are really looking forward to kicking the season off on Sunday. One player to keep an eye on this week is Jaziyah Taiatu. He’s been one of our best at training and throughout our trials this year.

Laurie Daley Cup – Macarthur Wests Tigers U18s

Coach – Mitch Tyler

Coach's Comment:

It's been a long pre-season where the boys have been working extremely hard. Western Rams look like a tough team but the boys will be up for the task. Our captain Riley Oitmann will miss the game due to injury but Archie Duncombe will be stepping in and is ready for a big game.
