Match Report: NRLW Round 6 vs Roosters

Wests Tigers have conceded a comprehensive 48-10 defeat to Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The home side opened the scoring with their first set of the match. A quick play the ball put Wests Tigers on the backfoot as a looping pass found Brydie Parker in the corner.

An unexecuted Tigers short drop-out drew further momentum to the Roosters as Millie Boyle and Isabella Kelly crashed over in quick succession.

The visitor’s nightmare start soon worsened as co-captain Kezie Apps was ruled out after failing her HIA, though Sarah Togatuki was able to regain some fight as she capitalised on a Roosters error for her side’s first try.

Mia Wood bagged a first half double on NRLW debut either side of her centre Jessica Sergis, before a Rikeya Horne try reclaimed some confidence for Wests Tigers entering the half time break down 28-10.

The Roosters had no issues scoring out of their own half with Amelia Pasikala and Corban Baxter crossing for length of the field tries.

Wests Tigers went close to scoring on several occasions, though the Roosters were relentless turning defence into attack with ease.

Wood grabbed her third of the afternoon before Jocelyn Kelleher scored in the corner from dummy-half to ice a 48-10 score line.

Wests Tigers travel interstate to face Gold Coast Titans at Cbus Super Stadium next Sunday afternoon.
