Match Report: Wests Tigers Cubs in Tamworth

Wests Tigers Under 17s Cubs have scored an emphatic 40-4 win over a Canterbury Bulldogs development side at Scully Park, Tamworth.

The home side was restricted to just two tries in the second half after leading 28-nil at half time.

Right edge forward Byron Laupepa opened the scoring for the Tigers 'orange cubs' after seven minutes, collecting a short kick from nifty five-eighth Marc Tannous.

Left side winger Riley Oitmann was next to cross when halfback Alex Conti sparked a neat raid down the left edge.  Conti converted from the touchline to make it 12-nil after 12 minutes.

Tannous laid on the Tigers' third of the afternoon, neatly drawing the fullback to send centre Malik Amine across, before Lucas Rosi barged over from close range.

Conti again showed class on the short side sending Oitmann over for his second on the stroke of half time.

The Bulldogs improved their defence and opened their account seven minutes into the second half when right winger Darcy Wallis scored what would be their only try of the game.

With about 10 minutes remaining Nate Gallagher cut through to score the Tigers Cubs sixth try of the match to make it 34-4.

Conti then landed a pinpoint cross field kick which found a leaping Jared Haywood to put a full stop on a commanding 40-4 victory.
