Match Report: NSW Cup Round 18 vs Bears

A four-try effort from North Sydney winger Allan Fitzgibbon has helped the Bears to a 46-18 win over Western Suburbs Magpies on Sunday afternoon.

The electric winger scored in the right corner to open the account for the Bears, with Tui Katoa bagging his own on the left shortly after.

Rua Ngatikaura replied for the visitors, with the nuggety hooker producing a trademark burrow from dummy half to collect the Magpies’ first four-pointer of the afternoon.

After Josh Bergamin and Jesse Marschke grabbed tries for the Bears, front rower John Tuivaiti, who was impressive for Western Suburbs, crashed over for his first try in Magpies colours.

Just five minutes later, Triston Reilly’s pace and power proved too much for the Bears defence, as the centre’s outstanding season continues.

Reilly’s converted try made it a 20-18 North Sydney lead at the break.

From there however, it was all the Bears, who started the second stanza fast through rampaging back-rower, Reuben Porter.

A second half hat-trick to Fitzgibbon and a try to Ben Stevanovic ultimately led North Sydney to a 46-18 win.
