Acacia Jakitsch, Georgia Creswell, Charlie Fuller and Mitchell Elphick were among 68 Indigenous and Māori Year 11 students participating in leadership and cultural activities throughout the week, ahead of the NRL’s Indigenous Round

One key objective of the IYLS is for students to take the skills and experience they gain through the week back to their own schools and communities, where they can support initiatives at the local level and continue their leadership journey.

Also attending the Youth Summit were Wests Tigers Indigenous players Daine Laurie, Brandon Tumeth, and Triston Reilly.

Our School to Work Ambassadors are connected by culture and share a love of rugby league, but their respective backgrounds and goals are very different.

Acacia Jakitsch attends Campbelltown Performing Arts High School and only moved to Macarthur a couple of months from Lighting Ridge.  She made the move to better her education and help her get into University.  One day soon she aims to become a speech pathologist.

Georgia Creswell attends Leumeah High School and is hoping to have a career in hospitality as a chef.  Georgia wants to use this experience to gain confidence, learn more about her culture, and take those learnings to younger students at her school.

Charlie Fuller is from St Gregory’s College Campbelltown and is hoping to follow in his uncle’s footsteps and join the Australian Federal Police.

Mitchell Elphick attends Ingleburn High School and has ambitions of becoming school captain.  He also wants to forge a career in the construction industry and is hoping the Youth Summit will enable him to learn a lot more about his culture.

Our four School to Work Ambassadors were joined by family members earlier this month and presented their uniforms by Triston Reilly and Brent Naden.
