Match Report: NSW Cup Round 11 vs Rabbitohs

Western Suburbs Magpies have suffered a 26-22 loss to South Sydney in Round 11 of the Knock On Effect NSW Cup, after the Rabbitohs piled on 26 unanswered points.

A soft pass from recent Magpies recruit Tony Pellow allowed Semisi Kioa to crash over for the first points of the game.

Just seven minutes later, Livai Saukuru pounced on a Blake Taaffe error to score his fifth try of the NSW Cup season.

Wests collected a third four-pointer through Triston Reilly with the speedy centre showcasing his power and a sweet dummy on his way to the line.

With just three minutes remaining in the first half, a Manaia Cherrington short ball put Shawn Blore over to give the Magpies a commanding lead at the break.

South Sydney grabbed two quick four-pointers to open the second-half scoring, and Tom Carr collected the Rabbitohs’ third after 57 minutes.

Izaac Thompson grabbed his second shortly after, with the home side edging to within two points of the Magpies lead with 15 minutes remaining.

The Rabbitohs comeback was completed with three minutes left from time, as Thompson scored an acrobatic try to secure his hat-trick and a 26-22 win for Souths.
