NSW Country-City squads for 2023 have been named

The NSWRL is pleased to announce the following players have been chosen in squads to represent Country and City for the representative fixture later this week.

Eight games will be played across three days with the Harvey Norman Women's Country v City match on Thursday 4 May to be shown by Fox League on FOX SPORTS and seven matches to be played on the weekend (6-7 May).

All matches will be played at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium apart from the Wheelchair Rugby League match which will be held at Queanbeyan PCYC.

The full schedule includes Country v City games for Harvey Norman Women’s Open Age, CABE Under 16s, CABE Under 18s, CABE Men’s Open Age and CABE Wheelchair Rugby League on Saturday 6 May; and CABE Physical Disability Rugby League, Harvey Norman Under 17s Women’s and Harvey Norman Under 19s Women’s on Sunday 7 May.

The CABE Under 16s Country team is made up of players from the SLE Andrew Johns Cup and the City team from the UNE Harold Matthews Cup, while the CABE Under 18s Country team is from the SLE Laurie Daley Cup and the City team the UNE SG Ball Cup.

The Harvey Norman Under 17s Country and City Women’s teams consist of players from the Lisa Fiaola Cup while the Harvey Norman Under 19s Women’s Country and City teams are made up of players from the Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup.

The CABE Men’s Open Age Country team is made up of players from the Men’s Country Championships, the City team from the Leagues Clubs Australia Ron Massey Cup, and the Harvey Norman Women’s Open Age Country and City teams from the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership.

Country v City matches started in 1911 with the best players from Country Rugby League taking on the best players from the NSWRL premiership. The concept was then shelved before returning in 1928, and from 1987-2017 was played under Origin selection rules.

The representative fixture returned to the NSWRL calendar in 2021.

All matches will be live streamed on NSWRL TV on the NSWRL Facebook page. Entry is $5 at the gate, while pensioners and children aged 12 and under are free.
