Match Preview: Round 9 vs Panthers

Wests Tigers will be hoping to emerge victorious in their first match at Carrington Park when the squad travels to Bathurst to play the Penrith Panthers on Saturday night.

Tim Sheens will be hoping that his men can carry positive momentum from their narrow defeat to the Sea Eagles as they line up against the third-placed Panthers.

With the news that Charlie Staines is set to miss 8-12 weeks with a bowel perforation, David Nofoaluma will return for his first game in the top flight since Round 3.

Brent Naden joins Nofoaluma in the backline as he makes his return from an AC joint (shoulder) injury, replacing Asu Kepaoa who is currently suffering from tonsillitis.

The Panthers have made one change to the lineup that was defeated by South Sydney last week, with former Wests Tigers utility Tyrone Peachey slotting into the centres for the injured Izack Tago.

Despite Penrith’s success over the past three seasons, Wests Tigers have proven to be a tricky opponent for Ivan Cleary’s side having defeated them in 2021 before pushing the premiers for the full eighty minutes in their encounter last year.

The joint-venture has never played a match at Carrington Park, with Western Suburbs making two appearances at the venue in the midweek competitions of 1984 and 1990.
