Match Report: NSW Cup Round 6 vs Eels

Western Suburbs Magpies have suffered a four-point loss to Parramatta Eels in Round 6 of the Knock On Effect NSW Cup at Accor Stadium.

Jake Arthur kicked off the point-scoring for the Eels, when he crashed over after eight minutes.

However, the story of the first half was the strong Magpies defence, with Parramatta only holding a 4-0 lead at the break, despite holding 61% of the ball in the opening stanza.

The Wests defence was rewarded to open the second half too, with Rua Ngatikaura producing a trademark dart from dummy half to score under the posts.

An error after points though allowed Eels winger Matthew Komolafe to slam the ball down in the corner.

In another grinding half of footy, the scores remained locked at 10-6 for the remaining half hour of the game, with Parramatta’s defence just holding firm to hold out the desperate Magpies.

Wests’ best chance came 12 minutes from time, when Triston Reilly couldn’t plant the ball down over the line.
