Pathways Preview: Round 6

With another triple-header at Leichhardt Oval, and five games at Campbelltown on Saturday, a big weekend awaits for Wests Tigers teams this weekend.

Including the NRL, there are seven matches against Newcastle Knights across the weekend.

The Knock On Effect NSW Cup

After their smashing Round 1 win over the Roosters last Sunday, Western Suburbs Magpies will be out to make it consecutive victories when they take on Newcastle Knights on Sunday.

The battle of the second-row pairings will be especially intriguing, with Kitione Kautoga and Brandon Tumeth crossing for five tries between them in their opening game.

An injury to Jordan Hill means Israel Ogden joins the Wests side on the wing.

Jersey Flegg Cup

An intriguing assignment awaits Wests Tigers in their Round 2 Jersey Flegg Cup fixture, with Newcastle having had the bye in Round 1.

The home side showed glimpses of running away with the contest in their opening fixture, with Sione Vaihu and Naati Teaupa impressing in the defeat.

This is the first match of another triple-header at Leichhardt on Sunday.

Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership

Wests Tigers’ NSW Women’s Premiership side takes on Newcastle this Saturday afternoon, with a win to put them well in the hunt for a finals spot.

Pauline Piliae-Rasabale has impressed in her first appearances in Wests Tigers colours. Her halves combination with Emily Curtain is sure to be pivotal in the outcome of this game.

This match is the last of a five-game schedule at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup (U/19s)

After a difficult run of recent results, Wests Tigers’ Tarsha Gale Cup team faces Newcastle Knights at Campbelltown on Saturday.

This young squad has produced a number of brave performances in 2023, and will be aiming to do the same against a strong Knights outfit in Round 6.

They will be boosted by the inclusions of key performers, Harmony Crichton and Mia Taylor.

UNE SG Ball Cup (U/19s) - Western Suburbs

The Magpies SG Ball side produced an impressive bounce-back victory to overcome an undefeated Penrith side last weekend and will need another big performance when they face the 2nd placed Knights in Round 6.

The likes of Tallyn Da Silva, Jordan Miller and Lachlan Galvin will again prove instrumental if the Magpies are to emerge with the two points on Saturday, with Da Silva starting the season in particularly impressive form.

Get out to Campbelltown on Saturday to watch one of Wests Tigers’ most impressive pathways teams in action.

UNE SG Ball Cup (U/19s) - Balmain

A tight contest looks likely on Saturday afternoon as the 11th placed Tigers take on the 12th placed Steelers in Wollongong.

A depleted Balmain side will still be confident of getting the points against an Illawarra side with just one victory to its name this season.

Elijah Mataale skippers the side in the absence of Josh Feledy and Tony Sukkar.

UNE Harold Matthews Cup (U/17s) - Western Suburbs

It’s a must-win match for the Magpies, as they look to cement themselves in the Top 6 by the end of the round.

Taking on a Knights side which sits equal on competition points, this is sure to be a ripping contest at Campbelltown on Saturday morning.

UNE Harold Matthews Cup (U/17s) - Balmain

A Balmain Harold Matthews side which has made a habit of producing tough, gritty performances, takes on Illawarra this weekend in what is sure to be another close contest.

A win would ensure the Tigers remain in the running for a finals spot, with skipper Alex Conti aiming to control proceedings against a strong Steelers outfit.

Lisa Fiaola Cup (U/17s)

Our Lisa Fiaola Cup girls kick off their season this weekend in the first of a five-match schedule at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Saturday.

  • Wests Tigers vs Manly Sea Eagles
  • Kick-off: 10:00am
  • Campbelltown Sports Stadium
