Match Report: Jersey Flegg Cup vs Roosters

Wests Tigers’ Jersey Flegg Cup side has suffered a tight Round 1 defeat on Sunday afternoon, falling to a strong Sydney Roosters outfit, 26 points to 16.

Both side’s dummy halves traded four pointers to open proceedings, with Alan Holten and Jaycob Anjoul crossing to making it one try apiece.

Wests Tigers went ahead shortly after when right centre Sione Vaihu finished off a slick backline raid on the right side, however the Roosters scored two tries in quick succession to take a half-time lead.

The Chooks scored first in the second stanza when a loose ball found Isaac Guba in the left corner but when Tigers prop Jackson Owen crashed over in the 55th minute, it looked as if the home side could level the scores late in the game.

A tackle-busting effort from winger Matua Robinson broke the Tigers hearts though, and sealed the win for the travelling Roosters.
