Trials in Greater Macarthur region on Saturday

Wests Tigers are returning to Wollondilly Shire this weekend where the club’s two senior pathways teams will play their final trial games before the new season.

Our NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg teams will host Canberra Raiders on Saturday at Wilton Sportsground, and local league fans are very much encouraged to come along and watch.

The NSW Cup team will feature several players who played in last weekend's Pre-season Challenge against the Warriors including Jahream Bula, Liam Scolari, Jordan Hill, Triston Reilly, Zane Camroux, Sione Fainu and Rua Ngatikaura.

Wests Tigers remains as committed as ever to promoting the game and the club in the Macarthur and Southern Highlands regions, and these senior trials follow recent junior representative games held in Mittagong.

Head of Pathways, Matthew Betsey says the south-western corridor and the Group 6 area is a big part of the club’s development plans.

“The south-west of Sydney and the corridor stretching from Macarthur through to the Southern Highlands is hugely important to us,” said Betsey.

We are always looking at new ways to connect with this community as we continue to build our pathways programs in the Greater Macarthur region.

“I know last year’s community footy fest at Picton Sportsground was well received by the local community, as was our Christmas Toy Drive at Bowral Hospital.

These are a couple of recent initiatives where Wests Tigers have been active in the Southwest, and there are many more.

The club has recently appointed a Football Coordinator devoted entirely to development in the Macarthur region, while the Andrew Johns and Laurie Daley Cup teams will be playing rounds four and five at Kirkham Oval in Camden.

Wests Tigers will also help drive female participation in the region, providing further opportunities for young girls to play rugby league. A MacArthur West Tigers team will be entered in this year’s Lisa Fiaola Cup competition for Under-17s.
