The project will be delivered by Campbelltown Council, in partnership with Wests Tigers, Western Sydney University, Macarthur Bulls and South-West Sydney Academy of Sport.

Premier Dominic Perrottet and Minister for Sport Alister Henskens today announced more than $309.6 million in funding for local councils and community groups in the Burwood, Camden, Campbelltown, Liverpool, Penrith and Wollondilly LGAs to deliver 14 new and upgraded sports facilities across Western Sydney.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe says the new Centre of Excellence at Campbelltown Sports Stadium will provide a huge boost to the club’s pathways program.

“This is exactly what we have been waiting for and we are delighted the funding has been approved,” said Pascoe.

This will be a game-changer for our elite development and pathways programs in Macarthur and surrounding regions.

"This is strategically very important for our club.

“The south-west is a huge growth area for us not only for our community programs but for our pathways and elite development as well.

“We have over 7,500 kids in junior rugby league programs in the south-west, and to provide them with the opportunity to be the best they can be, is what we are all about."

Pascoe says both Campbelltown Council and Western Sydney University are to be applauded for their efforts.

“I want to thank Campbelltown Council and Western Sydney University for all their hard work, and working with us to make this opportunity a reality. We are really proud to be a part of this project,” said Pascoe.

“This is a great outcome for the whole community.

"To have an academy and sports hub around Campbelltown Sports Stadium is great for the growth of not only rugby league but other sports as well.”

Premier Perrottet says the new facility will have far reaching benefits.

“The new Sport and Health Centre of Excellence at Leumeah will go a long way to supporting local talent development pathways for athletes into elite sport through specialised science and research programs,” said the Premier.
