Pathways Preview: Round 2

With the Junior Reps and Women’s seasons getting underway last weekend, we look ahead to the Round 2 matches for Wests Tigers’ pathways teams.

Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership

Wests Tigers’ NSW Women’s Premiership side will be aiming to bounce back with a bang this week, after their opening round defeat to the Sharks.

They take on a St.George Dragons team who were beaten 54-4 by the Bulldogs in Round 1.

In some key team changes, Emily Curtain returns to captain the side at halfback, with fullback Tess Staines also set to make her first appearance of the season.

Losana Lutu and Najvada George are out, through injury and suspension respectively.

Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup (U/19s)

In a similar boat to the NSW Women’s Premiership side, Wests Tigers’ Tarsha Gale Cup outfit will try to take advantage of a vulnerable Dragons side, and secure their first win of the season in Round 2.

After going oh-so close to defeating Manly in the opening round, an unchanged Tigers line-up will be confident of showcasing its potential against St. George.

Please note, this game will now be played at New Era Stadium, Cabramatta not Kogarah.

SG Ball Cup (U/19s) - Western Suburbs

The SG Ball Cup Magpies play on Saturday morning against a Dragons side coming off an opening round loss to the Bulldogs.

After their impressive Round 1 demolition of Manly, Wests will be boosted by the inclusion of star hooker Tallyn Da Silva, who returns to the side this week after a short suspension.

Chris Fa'agutu is named to back up after Thursday’s NRL trial against the Warriors.

Please note, this game will now be played at New Era Stadium, Cabramatta.

SG Ball Cup (U/19s) - Balmain

Balmain’s SG Ball Cup team take on Parramatta at Kellyville this Saturday afternoon, with Tony Sukkar and Josh Feledy named to back up after Thursday’s NRL trial in New Zealand.

Lachlan Broederlow is elevated to the starting side after an impressive SG Ball Cup debut.

Harold Matthews Cup (U/17s) - Western Suburbs

A new look Magpies Harold Matthews Cup side locked in a smashing Round 1 victory over Manly and hope to repeat that effort against the Dragons.

Onitoni Large and Heamasi Makasini were extremely impressive last week in their Magpies' debuts.

St. George has an impressive forward pack and the boys will be expecting another physical game in the middle like last weekend against Manly.

Harold Matthews Cup (U/17s) - Balmain

After a tough opening round loss against Cronulla, Balmain take on Parramatta, who went down to the Roosters in their Round 1 clash.

Michael Nassar and captain, Alex Conti are consistent performers for this team and players to watch in 2023.

Laurie Daley Cup (U/18s) - Macarthur Wests Tigers 

Macarthur Wests Tigers’ Laurie Daley Cup team was run down by a strong Western Rams outfit last weekend, and is aiming to collect its first points of the season against North Coast.

Heith Pritchard drops back to this side from the Magpies SG Ball Cup team and will play halfback, pushing skipper, Zac Gibson to the interchange bench.

Andrew Johns Cup (U/16s) - Macarthur Wests Tigers 

The Macarthur Wests Tigers Andrew Johns Cup team produced an impressive win last  the weekend, with every player in the side making their junior representative debut.

They take on a North Coast Bulldogs outfit who were a touch unlucky in their 14-10 loss to Northern Tigers in Round 1.
