Skandalis 7s up and running

The Skandalis 7s is officially up and running after a successful launch last week at Kirkham Oval, home of the Camden Rams.

The Skandalis 7s is a non-competitive carnival for primary schools in Southwest Sydney, hosted by Wests Tigers Community and NRL Game Development teams.

The newly introduced carnival connects Wests Tigers' heritage with grassroots football, acknowledging players who have made a mark in the club's history.

John Skandalis is delighted to have the event carry his name.

“This a great opportunity for the young kids in the Southwest to participate in Rugby League and to begin their connection to their local NRL team, Wests Tigers,” said Skandalis.

For many kids, their first rugby league experience is at school playing with their mates and having fun which is the main outcome.

“It’s a great way to give more exposure to the sport and continue to drive the passion and support that comes from the Southwest”.

Skandalis 7s will be held each year providing schools in the Southwest community further opportunity to engage with Wests Tigers.

Wests Tigers NRL Game Development Officer, Chris Browne says Skandalis is very well known in the area.

“It was great to have John at the carnival and many of the players and teachers recognised him as he circled the field greeting people," said Browne.

I think it’s important for the event to have a such a high profile, local identity involved.

I’m looking forward to this event going from strength to strength in the coming years."
