Match Report: Round 25 vs Canberra Raiders

Wests Tigers have ended their season with a 56-10 defeat to the Canberra Raiders at Leichhardt Oval.

The home side conceded 42 unanswered points in the first half before displaying an improved performance in the second forty.

The late withdrawals of Jack Wighton and Elliott Whitehead didn’t stop the Raiders from posting the first points of the afternoon as Matthew Timoko claimed a Jamal Fogarty grubber kick.

Sebastian Kris then doubled the visitors’ lead by capitalising on a line break from Jordan Rapana.

Tries to Nick Cotric, Jordan Rapana, Hudson Young and Xavier Savage pushed the lead out to 36 points before Jamal Fogarty increased his personal points tally to eighteen with a try of his own.

Wests Tigers enjoyed a positive start to the second half and a four-pointer to Daine Laurie boosted the spirits of the Leichhardt faithful.

Ken Maumalo made the most of the additional energy from the crowd by crossing for his twelfth try of the season.

Tries to Hudson Young and Josh Papalii saw the Raiders bring up the half-century as Wests Tigers season came to a disappointing conclusion.

After full-time, Wests Tigers bid farewell to Luke Garner, Kelma Tuilagi, Jock Madden, James Roberts (retiring) and co-captain James Tamou, who will be leaving the club.

Wests Tigers would like to thank its members and supporters for their loyalty throughout a tough season.

We’ll be back bigger and better in 2023.
