Flegg coach calls on his leaders

Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg Cup side will play an elimination final against St George Illawarra on Sunday, eight days after facing the Dragons in the final round of the regular season.

The Red V defeated Wests Tigers 32-10 at Leichhardt on Saturday night, needing a victory to qualify for the play-offs. The other meeting this season was in Round 8, won 24-10 by Wests Tigers.

There is an abundance of talent in the Flegg side including the likes of NRL debutant Justin Matamua, bulldozing front-rower Christian Ma’anaima and silky halfback Kade Hill.

Coach Scott Kenna is happy for his team to have made the finals but says it’s now a whole new ball game.

“We’re very happy with our regular season results, especially winning four of our last five to make the semis, but the comp starts again this weekend,” said Kenna.

"The hard work must not stop, and we’ll need to be at our very best on Sunday,” he added.

Our coaching staff will be looking to our more experienced players in the group to lead from the front."
