Wests Tigers ‘home game’ against Cronulla Sharks at Scully Park on Saturday in Tamworth is a sell-out.

Round 22 -
home Team
Wests Tigers
16th Position
away Team
Sharks
3rd Position
Venue: Scully Park, Tamworth
It’s a great result for the club and the game following a busy schedule of community events throughout the week.
A capacity crowd of more than 9,000 will be in attendance as Wests Tigers look to bounce back after last weekend’s loss to Newcastle, against one of the form teams of the competition.
The Community team has been delivering several initiatives in the build up to Saturday’s Round 22 match, including a Wheelchair Rugby League and All Abilities event in Tamworth on Wednesday.
On Thursday morning, 130 high school students took part in Wests Tigers Festival of Rugby League. The students played modified games of Tag, and with the support of KARI Foundation, learnt more about Aboriginal culture.
More than 300 children attended the club’s free community clinic in the afternoon, after registrations were filled a week in advance.
There was also a big turnout for a ‘meet the players’ session at Scully Park on Thursday night, further highlighting the level of interest in Saturday’s NRL showdown.
Tamworth has been waiting a few years now for NRL to return to the region after a Covid-enforced layoff, and Saturday’s house full sign is again being erected, just as it was in previous years.
Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe says it’s further proof that NRL clubs can build meaningful connections with regional areas.
“As a club we have done a lot of work in the past few years to build a strong relationship with this community. It’s so much more than just playing a game of football here.”
It’s about engaging with the local community on many levels. There is a real buzz about town, which is the result of a lot of pre-planning."

"I want to thank everyone here in Tamworth especially the Wests Entertainment Group for allowing us the privilege of coming here and engaging with the community."
We would like to thank all of you for making us feel so welcome, and we look forward to a great contest on Saturday.”
