Full house in Tamworth

Wests Tigers ‘home game’ against Cronulla Sharks at Scully Park on Saturday in Tamworth is a sell-out.

It’s a great result for the club and the game following a busy schedule of community events throughout the week.

A capacity crowd of more than 9,000 will be in attendance as Wests Tigers look to bounce back after last weekend’s loss to Newcastle, against one of the form teams of the competition.

The Community team has been delivering several initiatives in the build up to Saturday’s Round 22 match, including a Wheelchair Rugby League and All Abilities event in Tamworth on Wednesday.

Tamworth has been waiting a few years now for NRL to return to the region after a Covid-enforced layoff, and Saturday’s house full sign is again being erected, just as it was in previous years.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe says it’s further proof that NRL clubs can build meaningful connections with regional areas.

“As a club we have done a lot of work in the past few years to build a strong relationship with this community. It’s so much more than just playing a game of football here.”

It’s about engaging with the local community on many levels. There is a real buzz about town, which is the result of a lot of pre-planning."

CEO, Justin Pascoe

"I want to thank everyone here in Tamworth especially the Wests Entertainment  Group for allowing us the privilege of coming here and engaging with the community."

We would like to thank all of you for making us feel so welcome, and we look forward to a great contest on Saturday.”
