Wests Tigers booked their spot in the decider with a 24-10 upset victory over the North Sydney Bears in last Saturday’s Semi Final.

Adel Hage’s side conceded the first try of the match to the minor premiers, but fought back emphatically to secure the win with an attacking onslaught to finish the first half.

In the only change to the starting squad, Sophie Curtain has been named to start at hooker and will line up alongside twin sister Emily, who captains the side.

That shift will see Ebony Prior revert back to the interchange bench after an inspired performance against the Bears last weekend.

The Sharks will have to be wary of a dynamic left-edge combination that has formed between Losana Lutu, Jessica Sergis and Tess Staines.

The trio were responsible for all five tries in last Saturday’s match, with Staines picking up a Semi Final hat-trick.

Cronulla will not be an easy opponent for Wests Tigers, having beaten the joint-venture in each of their previous four matches dating back to 2019.

They finished third on the ladder and boast several State of Origin stars of their own, including Sam Bremner, Tiana Penitani and Quincy Dodd.

In their only clash this season, the Sharks defeated Wests Tigers 20-16 at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence. However, Wests Tigers were without Jessica Sergis and Kezie Apps on that occasion.

Victory on Saturday afternoon would be the cherry on top of a ground-breaking year for Wests Tigers women’s program.

Our Tarsha Gale Cup team had their strongest season on record, before the club received confirmation that it would be admitted into the NRLW competition in 2023.

Head of Pathways Matthew Betsey says it's a major achievement just making the Grand Final.

"The players should be really proud of their achievements this season because it hasn't been easy.

They had to firstly overcome the adversity of their club captain Bo (Vette-Welsh) who picked up a season-ending injury before the season even started."

They've also had three different head coaches across the season after the promotion of Noddy to the NRL team."

It really is a remarkable achievement for them when you factor in these challenges."

The progress of our Women's teams is really positive and I know that the success of our women’s teams was a big factor in us being granted an NRLW license for next year."

Head of Pathways, Matthew Betsey

It should be a great day on Saturday and we are hoping that plenty of fans can get to Campbelltown to help get this team over the line. The crowd support in the semi final was a tremendous boost"

Regardless of the result, they should be very proud of how hard they have worked to get this far."

Matthew Betsey

Wests Tigers members and fans are encouraged to get to Campbelltown on Saturday to cheer our girls on, with adult tickets available at the gate. Pensioners and children aged 12 and under can attend free of charge.
