Legends Race Day a big success

Wild weather in Sydney failed to dampen the spirits of those who attended Wests Tigers Legends Race Day at Rosehill.  Not everyone backed a winner but by all reports, it was an occasion to remember.

More than 200 guests were treated to a first-class event, and although the meeting was abandoned after the first few races, the good times continued throughout the afternoon.

Renee Gartner did a terrific job as the event MC, interviewing a number Legends on track including Tim Brasher, Pat Richards, Chris Lawrence, and Chris Heighington.

Scattered throughout the gathering were many familiar faces from yesteryear, including players from Western Suburbs Magpies, Balmain Tigers, and the Wests Tigers 2005 Premiership-winning side, including coach Tim Sheens.

John Skandalis was heavily involved on the day and even tried his hand at some part time modelling. Skando cut a fine figure wearing the Legends’ signed jersey that went under the hammer in the live auction. Another popular auction item that got snapped up was a golf experience with Benji Marshall.

If you missed this event, be sure to keep a lookout for further Wests Tigers Connect events in the coming months including our Women In League High Tea at Waterview on 28th July.

Our Legends will again be up and about at our Round 18 home game against Penrith Panthers at CommBank Stadium on 17th July.

The teams will be playing for the inaugural Royce Simmons Cup, and our Legends will also be walking a lap of honour.
