Wests Tigers junior Jessica Kennedy set to make Senior Women's debut

Local junior Jessica Kennedy will make her Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership debut when Wests Tigers host Glebe Dirty Reds at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Kennedy — who was the club’s Tarsha Gale Cup captain this season — was presented with her playing jersey on Friday night ahead of her senior women’s debut, in which she’ll become Wests Tigers Women’s Player #50.

Kennedy’s progression through the Wests Tigers development system is another example of club’s success and commitment to the women’s game.

Kennedy will join the likes of Emily and Sophie Curtain as players who have progressed from the Wests Tigers Tarsha Gale Cup side into the club’s Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership.

“Our captain Jess Kennedy played every minute of the season in the middle of the field,” Wests Tigers Tarsha Gale Cup coach David Fauonuku said.

“She has been in our side for three years — two years as captain — and she’s had a great year.

“She’s been the standout all year and hopefully she can keep playing well and go on to bigger things.”

Wests Tigers will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s heavy loss to Mounties when they host the Dirty Reds, who have one just one game this season.

The match kicks-off at 3:05pm on Saturday ahead of the NRL clash between Wests Tigers and Gold Coast Titans.
