Maguire disappointed with his side's output

An emotional Michael Maguire has shared his disappointment following his side’s 34-30 loss to the North Queensland Cowboys.

On a day where the club was celebrating the life of the late Tommy Raudonikis at Leichhardt Oval, the Wests Tigers coach was frustrated by the output of his players.

“I’ll have a look at the video because that’s definitely not what the Wests Tigers are about,” Maguire said after the game.

“It was there to be seen — it was poor. It was tough today.”

Although Maguire was pleased with his side’s attacking fight in the second half, he said it didn’t make up for their poor defensive efforts.

“Defensively we aren’t where we need to be … defence is about attitude. It wasn’t good enough,” he said.

“We conceded 34 points — that’s not good enough.

“There’s a lot of improvement need from what we saw out there.”

When asked if he’ll make team changes ahead of Wests Tigers Round 6 clash against South Sydney, Maguire said he will consider the option.

“Our reserve grade side is going well. I’ll have a look,” Maguire said.

“Players know what they need to do and we need to take a good look at where we’re at. We’re going to review it.”
