Jersey Flegg start season with dominant win in Victoria

Having waited over 12 months to play a game of football, Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg side marked their return in style on Saturday — piling on the points in a dominant 50-12 win over Victoria.

After sitting out Round 1 with a scheduled bye weekend and heavy rain in Sydney postponing Round 2's action, it was a strong first-up win Wayne Lambkin's side, who led from start to finish to show themselves a side to be reckoned with in 2021.

Four tries in the opening 12 minutes had the game almost done and dusted for the visitors, with Kade Hill and Jordan Hill both bagging doubles in the early onslaught.

Jordan would complete his hat-trick in the 40th minute to cap off a superb day for Wests Tigers, who ran in nine tries to two over the Melburians.

Halfback Ben Stevanovic landed seven goals from his nine attempts to move his side to second on the ladder after three rounds of action, with Wests Tigers looking to make it back-to-back wins when they face Parramatta on Good Friday.

Wests Tigers 50 (J.Hill 3, K.Hill 2, Leilua, Perry, Dillon, Ogden tries; Stevanovic 7/9 goals) def. Victoria Thunderbolts 12 (Natapu, Naikoto tries; Pezet 2/2 goals)
