Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire is set to welcome back James Roberts for Sunday’s Round 3 clash against the Newcastle Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Roberts missed last week’s loss to the Sydney Roosters with a minor injury but has been named to return to the side in place of Joey Leilua, who has been named among the reserves in jersey 19.

Representative forward Zane Musgrove will also return this week in a boost for the side after missing the opening two games with a suspension picked up in the 2021 NRL All Stars match. He will start up front alongside captain James Tamou with Joe Ofahengaue dropping back to the bench in place of Michael Chee Kam.

Russell Packer and Alex Seyfarth join Chee Kam and Leilua as the other players named among the reserves to round out the 21-man squad.

For the Knights, five-eighth Kurt Mann (knee) makes a swift return after his late withdrawal from the side to play the Warriors.

His replacement in Phoenix Crossland was suspended for a crusher tackle so uncapped playmaker Nathanael Sasagi has been named in the reserves.
