Wests Tigers five-eighth Billy Walters marked his return to the starting side for the first time in over three months with a dominant display against the Brisbane Broncos on Friday night.
On a night when nearly every Wests Tigers player made a strong argument for Man of the Match honours, Walters shone in his new starting role alongside Benji Marshall — setting up Luciano Leilua for the first of his two tries before showing superb touch and awareness to bag himself a four-pointer in the second half.
The try, called live on air by father Kevin Walters in the Fox Sports commentary box, was Walters' first in the NRL since making his debut last year.
Starting the match in the halves before shifting to hooker in the final 15 minutes as Harry Grant earned a reprieve, Walters played the full 80 minutes for Wests Tigers and finished with two try involvements, 96 running metres and 38 tackles.
After producing arguably his finest performance in first-grade to date, Walters will look to make it up next Thursday night when his side takes on the top-of-the-table Parramatta Eels in a mouthwatering clash at Bankwest Stadium.
