Judiciary Report: Round 5

It was a busy round for the Match Review Committee in Round 5 with a number of charges for players right across the league.

Wests Tigers forward Russell Packer will miss the next two matches after he was charged with a Grade 3 Careless High Tackle in his side's loss to Canberra.

Packer was charged with a 300-point offence which is reduced to two weeks with an early guilty plea, which the club officially entered in to on Monday.

Sea Eagles hooker Danny Levi was the only player charged from his side's victory over Brisbane on Thursday, with the Manly rake able to escape suspension following a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact - Head/Neck charge.

Parramatta forward Kane Evans and Cowboys youngster Thomas Gilbert weren't so lucky, however, with both players facing time on the sidelines.

Evans will miss one week after being hit with a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact - Other charge while Gilbert is facing three weeks out after receiving a Grade 2 Dangerous Contact - Head/Neck charge in his side's loss to the New Zealand Warriors.

Poasa Faamausili and Jack Murchie were also both charged from the Warriors' win over North Queensland but escaped suspension with an early guilty plea.

Dragons playmaker Corey Norman was the only player charged from his side's upset win over the Sharks, with the halfback fined for tripping.

Angus Crichton and Raymond Faitala-Mariner were both charged following Monday night's game between the Roosters and the Bulldogs, but both will also escape any time on the sideline with early guilty pleas.
