Wests Tigers Head Coach Michael Maguire has named his 21-man squad to take on the Newcastle Knights for their Round 2 clash this Sunday at Leichhardt Oval (4:00pm AEDT kickoff).
After a first-start win over the Dragons in Round 1, Maguire has named a near identical side for this week's game with Josh Reynolds to partner Benji Marshall in the halves following Luke Brooks' calf injury.
Corey Thompson retains his spot at fullback with Adam Doueihi and Joey Leilua in the centres, while co-captain Moses Mbye has not been named in the 21-man squad as he closes in on a return from a knee injury sustained in the trials.
The only change to the side as a whole is the inclusion of Paul Momirovski in jersey 15 on the bench as he returns from a knee injury suffered in the NRL Perth Nines. Momirovski featured as 18th Man last week but takes the place of Michael Chee Kam on the bench this week, with the Samoan international dropping back to the reserves alongside Oliver Clark, Matt Eisenhuth and Tommy Talau.
2020 Match Highlights: Rd.1, Dragons vs. Wests Tigers
Not surprisingly, Newcastle Coach Adam O'Brien has gone with the same 17-man side that beat the Warriors with the only change that of Sione Mata'utia, who has been named as a reserve as he makes his way back from a knee injury.
Wests Tigers will head in to Sunday's game with a good recent record against the Newcastle Knights, having won five of the past six matchups between the two.
Wests Tigers won the only fixture played at Leichhardt Oval between the two when they met in Round 13 of the 2011 season — Robbie Farah snapping a field goal in Golden Point to give the home side a 17-16 win.
As is customary, the two sides will once again play off for the Allan McMahon Shield. McMahon was a long-time player and captain of the Balmain Tigers between the 1970's and 1980's, and was the first ever coach of the Knights in 1988.
