Western Suburbs Magpies Canterbury Cup Coach Wayne Collins has named his 21-man squad to take on the St. George-Illawarra Dragons for their season opener this Sunday.
Collins has named a strong squad for the match at WIN Stadium, which will be played as the curtain-raiser to Wests Tigers clash against the Dragons later on.
After good performances throughout the pre-season trials, Collins has named a number of Wests Tigers NRL squad members for the clash as well as a host of players who trained with the extended squad throughout the pre-season.
Dylan Smith starts at fullback after recovering from a thigh strain while young duo Tommy Talau and Kane Bradley will partner together on the left edge.
Matt Eisenhuth and Chris McQueen headline a forward pack made of entirely NRL squad members with Oliver Clark, Sam McIntyre and Alex Seyfarth also included. 18-year-old hooker Jake Simpkin will wear the number nine jersey after an impressive hit-out in his side's final trial victory over the Panthers.
Western Suburbs will be determined for an improved performance in 2020 after narrowly missing out on the Canterbury Cup finals last year.
