Magpies to face Panthers in final preparations for 2020 season

Western Suburbs Magpies will take on the Penrith Panthers in a rescheduled Canterbury Cup trial match this Saturday at Panthers Stadium in their preparations for the 2020 season.

With the Magpies primed for a strong season with a new Head Coach in Wayne Collins and a number of new faces, Saturday's trial will carry with it plenty of interest as competition for spots in the season opener continues to ramp up.

2020 Development Players Jock Madden, Zac Cini, Reece Hoffman and Jake Simpkin will all feature for the Magpies this week, while Jersey Flegg eligible players Mavoni Tuifua, Liam Scolari, Ray Jankovic and Brandon Mansfield are also named.

Matheson Johns, Brendon O'Hagan, Tyrone Faulkner, Austin Dias, Terrell May, Lachlan Talau and Jordin Leiu all spent time training with the extended NRL squad throughout the pre-season and will be out to impress in Saturday's trial.

Western Suburbs will play their first game of the 2020 season when they take on St. George-Illawarra prior to the NRL season opener at WIN Stadium on March 15.
