Wests Tigers confirm changes to 2020 Football Department

Wests Tigers have today confirmed the club’s coaching structure for the 2020 season with several key additions joining the Football Department.

Head Coach Michael Maguire will be joined by Andrew Webster, Brett Hodgson and Shane Millard as Assistant Coaches in 2020, with the latter joining the club after a successful season as the Canterbury Cup Coach of the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

A former Roosters, Rabbitohs, Dragons and Western Suburbs player who enjoyed a strong first-grade career with over 250 games in Australia and England, Millard was announced as the North Sydney Bears Coach for the 2018 reserve grade season before joining the Rabbitohs in 2019.

Recognised for his success during the year, Millard was also named as Coach of the NSW Residents side for their annual clash against Queensland in 2019.

Millard joins Webster and Hodgson as Assistant Coaches in the coming year, who remain as they were in 2019 as Assistant Coaches to Maguire.

The arrival of Millard isn’t the only key change to Wests Tigers Football Department in 2020, with the highly-respected Andrew Gray also joining the club as Head of Performance.

Gray joins Wests Tigers after spending the past four seasons with the Cronulla Sharks, and brings with him a wealth of experience in the areas of performance management, physiotherapy, strength and conditioning and athlete development.

Gray’s arrival as Head of Performance sees Steve Hooper transition to the role of NRL Performance Coach alongside Ronnie Palmer.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe welcomed the arrival of Shane and Andrew and said that their teams would add a lot to the club’s Football Department going forward.

“On behalf of all at Wests Tigers, I’d like to welcome Shane, Andrew and all our new staff to Wests Tigers,” Pascoe said.

“Both Shane and Andrew come with strong reputations and are very well thought of throughout rugby league and professional environments.

“I have no doubt that they will add greatly to Wests Tigers straight away and their new teams will help this club continue to take strong strides forward.”

After spending the past nine seasons with Wests Tigers, Head Physiotherapist Peter Moussa will depart the club, while Assistant NRL Physiotherapist Pat Williams, Assistant NRL Coach Craig Sandercock, Aaron Zimmerman and Greta Gonlan will also move on. The club would like to thank them for their service and wish them well in future endeavours.

Kenny Michalopoulos, Daniel Miladinski, Jess Adams and Aaron Sculli have all joined Wests Tigers’ football department in various roles as pre-season training resumes shortly.
