2019 Canterbury Cup Season Awards

Western Suburbs Magpies Canterbury Cup centre Watson Heleta has capped off a strong season by taking out both awards at the club's Presentation Night this evening.

Heleta was voted by his teammates as the Canterbury Cup Players' Player of the Year and selected by the club's coaching staff as the Player of the Year.

A regular for the Magpies over the past few seasons, Heleta was again instrumental for the club's reserve-grade side in 2019, missing just five games during the year.

The 24-year-old spent time at fullback, wing and in the centres, having an impact in each position with eight tries and four assists to his name for the year. Heleta also amassed more than 2,000 run metres and 66 tackle breaks, leading all Western Suburbs players for the attacking categories throughout the year.

Wests Tigers would like to congratulate Watson on his awards tonight!
